Cribbage is a classic 2 player card game that uses a special peg board to keep track of the score. The goal is to be the first to score 121 points. Score points by using your hand to create runs, pairs, 3 & 4 of a kinds, totaling 15 or 31, and other ways. You also score by using a side-hand, called the crib.
The basic format of the game is that it begins with a randomly chosen dealer. Each player is dealt 6 cards face down, and chooses 2 cards from the 6 to place in the dealer's crib. The top card of the deck is shown, known as the starter card. If it's a jack, the dealer instantly scores 2 points.
After the crib is created, the remaining 4 cards are played by taking turns. Points are scores by adding up to 15 or 31, or by creating runs and pairs. The stack cannot exceed 31 and is cleared away if neither player can play a card.
Once all of the cards are played, the next part of the game is referred to as the show. At this point, the cards you played can be grouped together in a similar way (15, 31, pairs, runs, etc) to score points. The dealer follows the same rules with their crib, which is also 4 cards - 2 that each player discarded at the start of the hand.
After each hand, the peg is moved accordingly for points based on the show. The deck is reshuffled and the dealer switches to the other player. The first player to score 121 points wins the game.
